Source to sea
challenges were founded in 2005 by two friends based in Northern
Ireland when they planned to travel the length of the River Bann
from it's source on the flanks of Slieve Muck in the Mourne
Mountains in County Down, to the Bar Mouth at Coleraine in County
Londonderry. Due to circumstances outside
our control the challenge didn't take place but the plans and basic
ideas
remained.
From one planned
challenge thoughts then moved to providing a facility for other
people to carry out their own similar challenges and this site is the
result.
The first Bann
Challenge took place in May of 2008 and details can be found
by clicking on the Quik Link.
We have both enjoyed a
lifetime of spending as much time as possible in the outdoors and
getting involved in tests and challenges of various kinds. We
have been involved in challenges organised by other groups and also
been involved with the adventure racing fraternity having worked on
many races throughout Europe including the Adrenalin Rush, British
Championships, Irish Championships, Rat Race Adventure, Adventure
Racing World Championships and more.
Volunteering to help at
Challenges and Adventure Races can be a great way to get more
involved in outdoor adventures of your own, meet new friends from
around the world. We have provided information on the Links
page for anyone interested in becoming involved.
