Frequently asked questions

Does the river we choose have to end at the sea?

The short answer to this is no.  We hope that anyone can take part in their own challenge so if you want to do a shorter river that is fine.

Does my river have to be in any particular country?

No.  We hope to see people challenging themselves from all over the world.

Can we make up our own rules for our challenge?

Of course, it is your challenge.  We have provided a standard set of rules on this site as there are important safety parameters built in.  In addition, they set a standard by which challengers can run their chllenges.  Click on the Challenge Rules Quik Link for further information.

Do we have to raise money for charity?

No.  However, s2s challenges can be used to raise much needed funds for your favourite charities and groups.  This could be a registered charity, local youth or neighbourhood group, support groups, church etc.  s2s have provided a free facility for charities, groups and organisations to provide an advertising link.  Links such as these are especially useful for those looking for someone to raise funds for.

I am a representative of a charitable organisation, can I register my charity on your site?

Yes.  We have a section our site for registered charities and similar groups and organisations who have sent us their details.  This facility is FREE.  Challengers can then search for charities operating in their own areas or countries, or search for national charities.  Please visit our Charities section for further details.

How did you choose the name?

Many years ago when we decided to carry out our first challenge that had not been done before. we originally decided on the name "The Bann Challenge" as our first idea was to follow the course of the River Bann in Northern Ireland from it's source in the Mourne Mountains to the sea at the Barmouth north from Coleraine.  We straight away thought of what we would do after this and also hoped that we could attract others into doing similar challenges.  We then chose the name Source to Sea for all of our challenges and it went from there.
